How are we different? We use water in our pet cremation process, rather than fire used in traditional pet cremation. The process is more commonly referred to as, water cremation or aquamation. We also use loving care while handling your pet’s remains and our process yields a gentler approach.

Care for your pet’s remains is a very personal decision. Some families elect to bury their pets while others prefer pet cremation. Monarch offers water-based pet cremation, a gentler alternative to traditional cremation for your pet.
With this option, your pet is cremated privately in its own chamber. You will receive the ash remains of only your pet in an engraved dog urn, cat urn, or other pet cremation urn.
With communal cremation, pets are cremated with other pets, and ashes are scattered together. We scatter the ashes out to sea approximately once a month (weather permitting). We update our website with the coordinates of the scattering.
What is Aquamation?
Aquamation is a safe, natural, and environmentally friendly alternative to flame-based cremation or burial. It produces no toxic air emissions and uses a fraction of the energy of traditional pet cremation. In fact, out of all the options available to you, Aquamation leaves the smallest carbon footprint on our planet.
How does Aquamation work?
Aquamation is a gentle, quiet, and eco-friendly process using a combination of flowing water and alkalinity to accelerate the natural course of tissue breakdown that occurs when burying pets. Because there is no burning in Aquamation, there are more remains that are softer, whiter, and lighter than with traditional flame-based cremation.
What is the difference between Aquamation and other options?
Whether you choose burial, flame cremation, or Aquamation, the end result is the same—each body is eventually reduced to its basic elements of bone ash. The primary difference between pet burial, flame pet cremation, or Aquamation is the amount of time the process takes as well as the “catalyst” that supports the transition. The remaining by-product of Aquamation is made up of nutrients, amino acids, and sugars.
